The Day the Moon ate the Sun

August 21st, 2017 will forever be remembered as the day The Moon ate the Sun.

From the West Coast to the Southeast of the America’s, millions observed the progress of this event as all tiny specks of life on Earth have done since the beginning of time. Is it any wonder we are still enthralled? Is it a reminder of our place in the world of space? Can we learn anything at all from it or is it just entertainment?

Whether or not you were in the path of darkness or not, the personal impact and majesty of this Solar-Moon Eclipse didn’t fail to impress.

I was not in the Solar-Moon Eclipse direct path and the clouds in the sky hid much of its affect behind them.

But, I experienced a change to my planet none the less.

I watched the shade beneath the trees slowly disappear from the lawn.

I watched the blue fade from the sky.

I saw the air turn a moldy steamy golden color.

And I waited and my pulse did quicken.

As the minutes ticked on, would the light dim more, I wondered?

What if I hadn’t known about this Solar-Moon Eclipse event.

How would I have explained the transformation taking place outside my window.

Would I have wondered if an unforecasted storm was approaching?

If the sky had indeed turned to night and I had not known what was happening, how frightened would I be?

And then, I saw the sky begin to change again.

The clouds took on definition which they had lost at the moment of the eclipse passage.

I watched the shade appear on the ground beneath the trees.

Yellow suddenly shined bright on the backs of thei Tree leaves.

The air was once again clear and bright.

Suddenly I realized this event was over.

The anticipation preceding it, was cooling.

A new educated excitement of what I could experience in 2024 now resides within me.

For in 2024, I will be in the path of the Moon that eats the Sun, again!
